Silicone pads – How to place them correctly!
Lorena KeilThe silicone pad is a crucial factor for a successful eyelash lift! It determines the curl of the eyelashes and has a significant influence on the end result. But what should you pay attention to so that your customers get a beautiful, even curl? Find out here what is important and why precise placement of the pad later creates a WOW for your customers! 🤩
Why is the correct placement of the silicone pad so important?
The position of the eyelash lifting silicone pad determines the curl of the eyelashes. Incorrect placement can lead to the eyelashes being bent too much or lifted unevenly. The root zone in particular plays a crucial role!
DON'Ts
Many people make the mistake of positioning the silicone pad either too close to the root zone or too far away . To avoid this failure, avoid the following common sources of error and their consequences:
❌ Pad lies directly on the root zone → The eyelashes get an unnatural L-bend at the root zone.
❌ Pad is too far away → The lifting becomes weak and does not lift the eyelashes optimally at the root zone.
❌ Wrong pad size → If the pad is too big or too small, it will have a negative impact on the swing. It can be too weak or too strong.
DOS
To ensure that your customers receive an expressive, even lash lift and rave about your results, follow our tips:
✅ Choose the right pad size : Conduct a detailed preliminary analysis to determine the correct pad size.
✅ Perfect hold : Make sure the pad sits securely on the eyelid.
✅ Optimal distance from the root zone : Make sure that the pad is installed at a distance of 0.5 mm - 1.5 mm from the root zone.
Why is the distance to the root zone so important? 🤔
If the silicone pad is placed too far away , a gap of skin forms between the root zone and the pad. As soon as you place the lashes on the pad, this gap moves upwards, causing the waterline to flip - it turns outwards!
Result: The root zone takes on too weak a bend!
The influence of pad curvature 📐
The more bulbous the pad, the more important it is to have a distance of 1 mm to 1.5 mm from the root zone! Why? If you place a very bulbous pad too close to the root zone, the eyelashes will first be pushed downwards towards the base and only then shaped upwards.
Which pads are the best for your eyelash lift?
Not all eyelash lifting silicone pads are the same! High-quality, flexible silicone pads adapt perfectly to the shape of the eyelid and ensure that the customer feels comfortable when wearing them. They also make your work easier and minimize sources of error.
To tape or not to tape?
Some stylists pull their clients' eyelids back with tape to make it easier to apply the pad. But be careful! 🚨
➡️ If the skin is pulled back too far, the waterline may flip before the pad is placed! This causes the eyelashes to lose their curl.
💡 Tip: With a little practice, you can gently pull the excess eyelid skin towards you with your fingers while you place the pad. Tape should really only be used if there is a lot of excess skin.
